Summer truffle plantation in Yorkshire (UK)

In rural Yorkshire, nestled between fields and rivers, lies one of our partnership
summer truffle (Tuber aestivum/uncinatum) plantations.

The site

On a family estate, the plantation site required liming but now has
optimal conditions for the cultivation of the summer truffle.

Young truffle-tree saplings from our laboratory were planted during the 2006/07 season across 1.5Ha.

The results so far

Over the past two seasons the trees have grown considerably and root analysis in
December 2007 and 2008 showed the truffle fungus to be thriving.

    The prime tree planting time November – March is upon us. Traditionally, November to March are good months to plant, as the trees are dormant and planting in the winter allows the truffley-roots plenty of time to settle in before mycorrhiza and root-growth starts again in spring.
